Weather Modification ... masya Allah

I can't remember exactly which channel I was wacthing on Astro last night and that was the first time that I heard of 'weather modification'. May be others who are more knowledgeable than me have heard of this term and are well-versed about it. Surprisingly the meteoroloy expert was talking about controlling the cyclone before it moves further inland and developed into a typhoon of potential hazard. It looks creative and convincing. Since the cyclone develops from the accumulation of water evaporation from the sea and gains energy with the increasing amount of water vapours formed in its way, they came with the idea of discouraging the formation of more clouds before it upgrade itself into a typhoon. One way is to spread a kind substance over the surface of the sea and block more evaporation to happen. By that way, the already accumulated vapours of the cyclone will break dan disappear. The expert is of the opinion that if we selectively do that for good reason, it's like making one odd decision out of 1000 that will only give small effect to the whole weather system.

All this while I have only heard of cloud seeding as a way human intervened with the raining 'schedule'. That is as far as I know of intentional interference on the weather while contributions of gas emmission from human activities are mostly out of control and done for ignorance of the actual impacts.

Being not in this field, I consider this degree of human involvement with the weather change as very, very daring and could even lead to arrogance in encountering the power of God. Yes, the intention is good as such step could save more lives before disaster comes. I am thinking of the whole weather system and its impact in the long run. As someone who have full faith in God's wisdom, I believe that the atmosphere has its own schedule of maintaining the weather for the goodness and well-being of the earth and its inhabitants. Humans are merely guessing. I believe that the accumulation of such small interference with the system will actually contribute to the long-term instability of the weather and the ripple effect on the life on this planet could be more disastrous. Who knows that could results in megastorms in the future. Just predicting ! Don't be too serious about it.

Getting ready for evacuation, building stronger homes, erecting high-tech buildings, hiding in shelters or the like, to me is still the better option instead of challenging the divine wisdom. It reminds me of the tragedy of Firaun and Qarun who thought their power, knowledge and wealth could prolong their life and defy the fate.

New Knowledge :
In the Middle Ages, Abbas Ibn Firnas invented an artificial weather simulation room in which spectators saw and were astonished by stars, clouds, artificial thunder, and lightning which were produced by mechanisms hidden in his basement laboratory.[Imamuddin, S. M. (1981), Muslim Spain 711-1492 A.D., ]

May Allah save us from the dominion of the syaitan ...
